Underwater Filming

Here is how this works in practice. We deliver underwater filming as a fully crewed dive operation, run from our Belgrade base with certified commercial divers skilled in film production. Our underwater units include cinematographers, focus pullers, safety divers and dive supervisors, working cinema cameras in pressure-rated housings tied to the resolution and frame rate a project needs. We plan each shoot around the water, the visibility and the dive profile, choosing between open-water work in Serbia's rivers and controlled tank or pool sets where lighting, scene matching and actor work can be locked down.

Here is the short of it. Cast water sequences are supported with safety divers, breathing apparatus for extended takes, pre-shoot training and clear through-water communication, so non-diving performers can achieve convincing underwater shots safely. Directors monitor and direct the underwater crew in real time. For controlled work we use water-tank and pool stages around Belgrade and at PFI Studios near Simanovci; for natural sequences we deploy boats and river dive support. Housings, lighting and dive kit come through our Belgrade base, supplemented from the wider region for demanding shoots.

Here is the breakdown. Serbia is landlocked, so underwater filming centres on its rivers, lakes and controlled stages rather than the sea. The Danube and the Sava meet at Belgrade, giving cinematic urban river environments, and the Danube continues to the dramatic Djerdap gorge. The Iron Gates, where it cuts through Djerdap National Park. The Drina along the western border and the lakes around Tara and Zlatibor add clearer, calmer water for controlled sequences.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. The temperate inland climate means river temperatures swing across four distinct seasons, so we plan dives, exposure protection and crew rotation around the schedule, with the warmer months best for extended open-water work. National parks such as Djerdap apply conservation rules. River permits and access are arranged in advance with the relevant authorities.
